Be on the lookout for an email announcing our annual meeting on October 19.
We have several Board members wishing to relinquish their seats so your vote is important.

The Board would like to thank Deputy Shane Jackson from the Polk County Sheriff Department for everything he and the Sheriff Department are doing for the folks living on the mountain. Shane stopped by today's meeting to introduce himself to those that haven't met him yet and give the board an update.
You'll often see Deputy Jackson patrolling the streets, stopping to talk with neighbors, visiting neighborhood gatherings, and running off the street racers, skateboarders, and general trouble makers. When you see him be sure to wave, say hi and let him know how much you appreciate the increased police presence.

A few weeks back Elizabeth and Ted met with Kudzu Warriors and were given guidance to eradicate the patch on Skyuka Mountain Road road near the old hotel site. We sprayed this area and in the next couple weeks some neighbors will start pulling the dead vines from the road above and the creek below.
If you see orange cones on the curve slow down there may be people and tools on the side of the road.

Lets be honest, ticks are really bad this year.
Last year I might have picked 4 ticks off my cloths the entire summer.
This year I pick off 1-3 every time I walk outside, luckily none have bit.
There are several things to do if one latches on an they all seem to work but below is what the CDC recomends.

We are in the early stages of planning another Camp Skyuka work day.
The idea is to finish what we started and get everything in great shape before the Independence Day picnic.
Tasks still to be completed:
- Staining or painting the picnic tables; we have bear stencils but welcome all ideas to make the tables festive. Maybe our Queen of Hospitality could plan a community "sip and paint the picnic tables" one evening.
- Scrapping and removing the loose surface material from the tennis court
- Hauling off the pile of mixed surface material along the bank next to tennis court
- Removing the rotted sandbox frame
- Swapping out old street signs with new ones found in the shed
- Removing the old chairs and junk in the shed
- Deciding best course of action regarding park bench repair / replacement

Thank you everyone, Wow what a crowd.
Had I known everyone was going to come out I would have had more tasks ready to assign.
Going into summer:
- Thanks to Tyler's efforts, the party dock has a new concrete ramp anchor and new side wire anchors.
- The rotten fence rails were removed and will be replaced in coming weeks.
- The erosion on the back side of the dam was packed with rip rap and topped with dirt.
- The golf cart only signs by Charlie and Susan’s were re-attached with wire.
- The picnic tables are now sanded and ready for stain or paint.
- The piles of compostable debris were removed from and around the tennis court and picnic shelter.
